Ten steps.
Then it keeps
going.

This is the shape of the work, though it stays flexible depending on how much clarity a student already has. A student who arrives with a clear pathway will move through some stages quickly; a student who has no idea yet will spend longer at the start, which is exactly what that stage is for.

01Before you commit

Initial consultation

The student and parent book an introductory consultation with TNS to understand the service, discuss expectations and determine whether the programme is genuinely suitable. The assessment works both ways. We would rather say no early than take on a student we can't serve properly.

02Week one

Welcome & onboarding

Once the family chooses to proceed and payment is complete, they receive the TNS welcome information setting out the services, the process and what is expected on both sides.

03Week one

Student intake

The student completes a detailed intake form covering academics, extracurricular activities, interests, achievements, preferences and future goals. It gives us the factual ground before the real conversation starts.

04The important one

In depth student conversation

A longer one to one meeting, usually around an hour, to understand the student properly. Through discussion, exploration and elimination, we identify their strongest interests, preferences and potential academic direction. Most of what shapes the plan comes out of this hour.

05Only if needed

Assessment where required

Formal assessment is used when a student is uncertain about their interests, aptitude or direction. Students who already have a clear pathway may skip this stage entirely. We don't run tests for the sake of producing a report.

06Foundations

Academic & subject planning

We review current subjects, academic performance and the intended university pathway, to make sure subject choices actually support future course requirements. Getting this wrong in Grade 10 is one of the most expensive mistakes a student can make.

07The strategy

Individual profile strategy

A personalised long term profile is developed around the student's interests, abilities and ambitions. This is the direction that everything afterwards is built to support.

08Made concrete

Detailed planning

The larger strategy is converted into monthly and weekly goals through a detailed planner covering projects, courses, internships, competitions, research, academics and other relevant work. Strategy that never becomes a weekly target doesn't happen.

09The long middle

Execution & ongoing mentoring

The student works through those goals with regular TNS support. The team stays involved in sourcing opportunities, developing projects and adapting the plan as the student progresses. This is where most of the actual work happens.

10Grade 12

University & application strategy

As applications approach, the focus expands to university lists, essays, interviews, scholarships where relevant, and complete application support, now built on a profile that already exists rather than assembled at the last moment.

Not a straight line

The process is continuous and developmental.

Students are reviewed throughout their time with TNS. Plans are adapted as interests change, as academic performance shifts, and as goals evolve, which they will. A fifteen year old is allowed to change their mind; the plan should be able to absorb that without starting over.

What we ask of you

The plan only works if the student works it.

We source opportunities, design projects, build the planners and stay involved throughout. What we cannot do is the student's own work. A profile built by a counsellor rather than a student is visible to admissions readers, and worth less than nothing in an interview.

Students

Show up and follow through

Attend sessions, complete the weekly targets, and be honest when something isn't working or isn't interesting any more.

Parents

Stay informed, not in the way

We keep families updated through calls, meetings and written progress notes. The plan works best when parents understand the direction and let the student own it.

Together

Start early enough to matter

A profile built from Grade 9 has four years of compounding behind it. The same effort starting in Grade 12 produces a fraction of the result.

Step one is a conversation.

Book the introductory consultation. We'll talk through where your child is now, what they're drawn to, and whether this is the right fit.
